Funeral Service Is Held Tuesday For E.J. Hudson
Funeral services for E.J. Hudson, 63, early resident of this area, were held Tuesday afternoon from the First Methodist Church at 4 o'clock, conducted by Rev. M.M. Beavers, pastor, and Rev. Hamilton, pastor of the Lockney Methodist Church. Mr. Hudson died Monday night, July 11, at 11:20 o'clock, following an illness of two weeks.
He was born in Alabama on Jan. 21, 1875, and on July 21, 1905, married Miss May Williamson at Crockett, Texas. They came to Summerfield in 1907, where they farmed for several years; later he sold his farm and lived at Channing and Clayton. He returned here a few years ago and for the past three and one-half years has been in the grocery business here.
Mr. Hudson was a member of the Methodist Church and had many friends in this section who mourn his death.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Forrest Minton and Mrs. Eleanor Hudspeth, both of Hereford; a son, Harold Hudson of Hereford; one brother, S.G. Hudson of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Dora DeuPree of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Nelia Barr of Newman, Ga.; also a granddaughter, Billie Jo Hudspeth, and a niece, Mrs. Everett Wiseman of Vega, Texas.
