*Obituary R. Earl Lance, Jr.
Robert Earl Lance, Jr., 94, of Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1,
2017.

A Visitation for Earl will be held Friday, October 6 th ,from 6pm to 8pm in the Hereford
Heritage Rose Chapel. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at West Park
Cemetery Saturday, October 7 th , at 10:00 am, followed at 11:00 am by a Memorial Service at
King’s Manor of Hereford.

Robert Earl was born May 7, 1923 to R. E. Lance Sr. and Rosa Mae Carl Lance in Deaf Smith County,TX. He married E. Nadine Peacock in Clovis, NM on March 26, 1946.

Robert was a decorated World War II Veteran, having enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in
March of 1941. He took part in the major battles of the Pacific including the Battle of Guadalcanal, the Battle of Tulagi, the Battle of Tarawa, the Battle of Saipan, the Battle of Guam, as well as the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation with two stars, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was Honorably discharged in September of 1946.

Robert Earl ran the family farm in Hereford for the remainder of his life; he and his wife Nadine
enjoyed gardening: Robert preferred vegetables while Nadine raised roses. He was especially
fond of reading and took out stacks of books from the library each week. He also spent time
fishing and liked to listen to Country Western music. Patsy Cline and Ray Price were his
Favorites.

Robert Earl is preceded in death by his wife Nadine and by his son Larry Lance.

He is survived by his son Ronnie and wife Connie Lance. Also surviving him are his granddaughter Michelle Lance, his grandson Shawn Lance and wife Candice as well as two great-grandchildren: Zooey and Harper Lance. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him greatly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to King's Manor or Samaritan Hospice or The Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Services are under the direction of Hereford Heritage Funeral Home.

HEREFORD - Nadine Peacock Lance, 85, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011.

Celebration of life services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hereford Heritage Guneral Home Chapel of Memories with Joe Shultz, chaplain of Kings's Manor Methodist Home. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Lance was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Eliasville, Young County, to Asa and Eva Otts Peacock. She married the love of her life, Robert Earl Lance Jr., on March 26, 1946, in Clovis, N.M.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Ronnie Earl Lance of Hereford; a brother, Laylon Peacock of Woodson; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

The family suggests memorials be to King's Manor Methodist Home, Dining Hall Fund, 400 Ranger Drive, Hereford, TX 79045; or a charity of choice.
