Services for Lloyd mcGee [sic], 78, of Hereford will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at West Park Cemetery with Roy Shave officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home.
Mr. McGee died Monday at West Gate Nursing Home.
He was born March 21, 1921, at St. Louis, Okla., to Robert and Mattie McGee. He was a basketball star and a graduate from Shawnee High School. He attended the Hills Business College in Oklahoma City, Okla.
He married Margaret Calton in 1943 in Seminole, Okla. They moved to Portales, N.M. where they opened their first furniture store. They later moved to Hereford and opened McGee's Furniture which he ran for more than 41 years.
Survivors include his wife Margaret of Canyon; one daughter, Dr. Joe Ella Canslar of Canyon; one son, Vance Lynn McGee of Lufkin; two brothers; one sister; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials be made to the High Plains Children's Home of Amarillo.
