*Obituary Elijah Jonathan Miles
Elijah J. Miles, who lived in Hereford most of his life, passed away in Lubbock Saturday where he had been a resident for the past two years. He had been ill for the past two weeks.
Internment [sic] was in West Park Cemetery in Hereford after services Tuesday at the North Side Assembly of God Church in Lubbock with the Rev. J.A. Thomas, a former Hereford pastor in charge, and Rev. Scott Mitchell assisting. In Hereford, Rev. Homer T. Goodwin, past [sic] Church, conducted the services assisted by Rev. Charles Davis, pastor of the Southlawn Assembly of God Church in Amarillo and Presbyter of the North Plains section of the Assembly of God.
Mr. Miles was born on Feb. 28, 1895, at Johnstown, Oklahoma, and was 75 years old at the time of his death. He moved to Hereford in 1906.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beulah Miles; three sons, Lee of Groom, David of Amarillo, and Billy G. of Lubbock; one daughter, Mrs. W.E. Githens Jr. of Sheridan, Wyo.; one brother, Ted of St. Helena, Ore.; and three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Schulz of Lakeland, Fla.; Mrs. Margaret Boling of Fullerton, Calif., and Mrs. Mabel Nadler, also of Fullerton.
Mr. Miles is also survived by eight grandchildren.
