Jerry Dean Morris, 55, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Amarillo South Church with Melvin Morris II and Melvin Morris III officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in West Park Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.
Jerry Dean Morris was born June 3, 1952, in Tucumcari, N.M. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a hardworking and dedicated individual, an avid collector and outdoorsman. He was a loving father and always proud of his children and grandchildren. He always did without so his family would not have to. He was a good-hearted person. He truly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and was the best father-in-law anyone could ask for. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Gene Morris Sr., in November 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Jamie Heather Morris; two sons, Robert Morris and wife Susan of Dumas and Landon Morris and wife Candice of Norman, Okla.; a daughter, Cassandra Velasco and husband Isai of Hereford; his mother and stepfather, Edna Jane Crow and William G. Crow of Hereford; three grandchildren, Jordan Morris of Dumas and Ethan Velasco and Aubrey Velasco, both of Hereford; and two brothers, Melvin Gene Morris II of Amarillo and Jimmy Don Morris of Waco.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be to Kwahadi Dancers, P.O. Box 32125, Amarillo, TX 79118.
