Services for J.B. Smith, 81, of Slaton will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Westview Baptist Church with Jim Wilkerson, former pastor of Westview Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Slaton Cemetery under direction of White Funeral Home of Idalou.

Smith died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born April 29, 1917. He attended school in Tahoka. He married Thelma Warren on Dec. 23, 1937, in Bonham. They moved to Slaton from Wilson in 1953. He was a barber and a member of the Lions Club of Wilson. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dwayne Smith of New Home; a daughter, Patricia Ann Hurst of Slaton; and two grandchildren

Thelma Christine Smith died Jan. 30, 2006 in Slaton at the age of 90. Thelma was born Oct. 28, 1915 in Ivanhoe, Texas to the late James Percy and Essie Estelle Baker Warren.

She married J.B. Smith in Bonham, Dec. 23, 1937.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Jan. 29, 1999; a daughter, Pat Hurst, March 30, 1999; and a granddaughter, Tonia Martin, Dec. 24, 1985.
Thelma is survived by a son, Dwayne Smith of New Home; two grandsons, Stacy Smith of New Home and Ray H. Hurst of Arlington; three great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and three great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at Westview Baptist Church in Slaton officiated by Rev. Jerry Gentry and Pastor Kirk.
Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home in Lubbock
