At the end of the siege of Vicksburg, surrender terms negotiated between General Grant and Pemberton allowed for the parole of the Confederate garrison. Alfred Cannon was a 13th surviving Confederate Veteran and is listed in the Confederate Parole Records at Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Alfred Cannon married Sarah Elizabeth Ford. Alfred Cannon is my Great-Great Grandfather.
