Vera G. May of Route 1, Mart a retired telephone operator, died Saturday at a local nursing home. She was 86. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lone Oak Cemetery near Mart, the Rev. W.H. Smith officiating.
Mrs. May was born April 1, 1905 in Cherokee County. She married Oak Lee May on Oct. 4, 1924 in Waco; he died Dec. 31,1987. Mrs. May was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and Hallsburg Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Jo Ann Wilson of Mart, a son Thomas Lee May of Lacy Lakeview; a sister Effie Mosley of Monahans, 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
