Former Resident's Funeral Scheduled

Funeral services for Mrs. Dora McDonald Rice of Walters, Okla., will be held at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon in the Hereford First Baptist Church. Rev. Howard Scott will conducted the services.

Mrs. Rice died Thursday in New Orleans, La., at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Bert Rayburn, of a heart attack. She had been in poor health for several years but death came unexpectedly. The body arrived in Hereford Saturday. The Gililland Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rice taught school in Dimmitt in the early 1900's. After her marriage to Emmett Rice they resided on a ranch near Hereford for several years. Her husband preceded her in death 43 years ago in Clovis, N.M., where the family had moved.

In 1928 she and her son Dean purchased what is now known as The McDowell Drug Store and operated the store two years. They returned to Walters where Mrs. Rice maintained her home. She was connected with Oklahoma Public Schools for several years.

Besides her daughter, Mrs. Rayburn, and a son, Dean Rice of Duncan, Okla., she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Tom Pilkington of Washington D.C. Four grandchildren also survive her.
