HEREFORD, Dec. 16 (special) - Mrs. Henry Sears, 40 years old, died at 4 o'clock this afternoon. She had been ill for several years.
Mrs. Sears was born Nov. 21, 1910, at Uniontown, Ala., and came to Canyon in 1929 to make her home with an aunt, Miss Mary Morgan Brown, then head of the speech department at West Texas State College.
Mrs. Sears was a graduate of Judson College, Marion, Ala., and taught in several schools in the Panhandle before her marriage, May 30, 1936, to Henry Sears. They moved to Hereford in 1939 from Monahans and Mr. Sears entered the grain business here.
She was a member of the Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Bay View Club and had been active in the Parent-Teacher Association until this fall.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Jimmy, 12 and Wheeler, 11, a daughter, Helen, 6, and a sister, Miss Helen White Moore of Canyon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon at the First Methodist Church. Rev. Don Davidson, Methodist pastor, and Rev. Roy Ford, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in West Park Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Gilliland Funeral Home.
