Mrs. S.J. Seed Funeral Rites Held Saturday
Funeral services were held Saturday at the First Christian Church for Mrs. S.J. Seed, 86 years old, who died Friday morning at the home of her son, Harry Seed, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Seed, a native of Pennsylvania, had lived in Lawrenceville, Ill., for many years and had lived in East St. Louis, Ill., for about a year before moving to Hereford in July, 1941, to make her home with her son.
A long-time member of the Methodist Church, Mrs. Seed's devotion to her faith was apparent to all who knew her. She had made many friends in the short time she had lived in Hereford.
Survivors are three sons, Mack Seed, Lakewood, Fle. [sic], Harley Seed, Lawrenceville, Ill., and Harry Seed, Hereford; one daughter, Mrs. J.W. Howard, East St. Louis, Ill; one sister, Mrs. Wilbur Belcher, Billett, Ill., 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A daughter-in-law, Mrs. C.W. Seed, three grandchildren, Walter Seed, Mrs. Frank Cogdell and Miss Helen Seed, and one great grandson are Hereford residents.
Rev. H.M. Redford was in charge of the funeral rites and pallbearers were Travis Dameron, Clyde Gregg, Claude Ricketts, Arthur Rogers, Cliff Hicks and Doug Fox.
Burial was in West Park Cemetery.
