Lloyd Sharp, 69, dies
Lloyd Burdell Sharp, 69, former Hereford City Commissioner, died Saturday night in Amarillo after a short illness.
Services were held in the First Baptist Church this afternoon with the Rev. Ron Cook, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in West Park Cemetery under direction of Gililland-Watson Funeral Home.
Sharp was associated with the Lone Star Agency in the insurance and real estate business. He had been a longtime city commissioner and served as mayor pro-tem in 1965. Sharp was a member of First Baptist Church, Deaf Smith County Chamber of Commerce, and the Kiwanis Club.
Born in Selden, Kan., he moved to Deaf Smith County in 1946 from Borger. He married Theda Williams in 1935. Mr. Sharp had also worked as a used-car dealer and served as a bank loan officer before going into the insurance and real estate business.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Philip of El Paso and Leslie of Tomball; three brothers, Gilbert of Andrews, Irvin of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Lowell of Klamath Falls, Ore.; a sister, Linda Davis of Bartlesville, Okla.; and six grandchildren.

HEREFORD - Theda Sharp, 84, died Friday, March 12, 2004.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Gililland-Watson Funeral Home Rose Chapel with Terry Cosby, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Sharp was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Sharp; two brothers, Lawson Williams and Floyd Williams; and her parents.
Survivors include two sons, Phillip Sharp and wife, Gene, of Lakewood, N.M., and Leslie Sharp and wife, Wilma, of Tomball; one brother, Douglas Williams and wife, Midge, of Las Cruces, N.M.; two sisters, Lena Bell and husband, Marvin, of Clovis, N.M., and Bobbie Davis and husband, Jack, of Roswell, N.M.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church, 500 N. Main, Hereford, TX 79045, or to Kings Manor/Westgate, 400 Ranger, Hereford, TX 79045.
