Funeral Services for Aubrey Sims, 73, a long time Hereford resident will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at Parkside Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Sammy Elliott, pastor of First Baptist Church of Levelland, officiating. Mr. Sims passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 in Lubbock, TX. Professional services are under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive guests at Parkside Chapel Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015.
Aubrey Ray Sims was born October 12, 1941 to Thurman and Alice Dyer Sims in Littlefield, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Army. In May of 1972 he married his sweetheart Dorothy Hornung in Greenville, Texas. Mr. Sims was a retired Ag Pilot. He worked for American Dusting from 2007 to 2014. His three grandsons were his pride and joy. He enjoyed spending time with his coffee drinking buddies. He loved motorcycles and horses. Aubrey was a member of Southwest Baptist Church in Amarillo, TX.
He is survived by his two daughters: Becca Waterwall and husband Michael of Houston, TX., and Amanda Davis and husband Patrick of Sundown, TX. Three sisters: Brenda Lackey and husband Walter of Muleshoe, TX., Sandra Ware and husband Jerry of Puyallup, WA., and Delilah Weeks and husband Rodney of Springfield, IL. Two Brothers Truman Sims and wife Donna of Woodvillle, TX., and Joe Bob Sims and wife Lettie of Granbury, TX. Three grandchildren: Robert Waterwall, Case Davis and Hank Davis.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Sims, one brother Stanley Sims and two sisters: Geraldine Martin and Joyce Dunham.
The family suggest memorials in Mr. Sims name be made Deaf Smith County 4-H Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 953, Hereford, Texas 79045.
