Funeral services for Agnes Helen Bounds, 76, of Lexington were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial in the Mesquite Cemetery near Lexington. Deacon Don Sims of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Rockdale officiated.

Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bownds died Saturday, Jan. 13, in Rock Island.

She was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Urichsville, OH, to William and Elizabeth (McConn) Merrick.

She married Royce T. Bownds on Jan. 19, 1946, in Ohio. Formerly of Houston, Mrs. Bownds was a resident of Lexington for 37 years. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Royce T. Bownds (Dec. 6, 1982); two daughters, Susan Eitner and Nancy Ahrendt; and two brothers, William Merrick and Jerared Merrick.

Survivors are two sons, R. T. (Terry) Bownds, Jr. of Houston and Patrick John Bownds and wife Nancy Faye of Rock Island; a daughter Maurene Johnson of Taylor; three sisters, Mary J. Merrick, Ann Butler and Patricia Hauser, all of Ohio; also, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Randy Bownds, Kevin Bownds, Ethan Eitner, Russell Eitner, Dusty Jackson and Kevin Lee Jackson.
