Funeral Services Will Be Today For Mrs. M.L. Steele

Final rites this afternoon for Mrs. M.L. Steele, 75, who died Friday at her home, 411 East Third in Hereford, will be held at First Methodist Church at 3 o'clock. Rev. Don Davidson will officiate.

Remembered primarily for her love of music and her keen interest in home beautification, Mrs. Steele, was an active Methodist church worker. She was born June [sic] 6, 1875 in Tennessee and married M.L. Steele at Dundee, Wise County, Texas in 1897 as Nettie Pauline Hines. She was daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J.J. Hines. Her family moved to Texas in 1881.

The Steeles moved to Groom, in 1902, where they lived 21 years. They then moved to Deaf Smith county in 1923. Mr. Steele was president of the bank in Groom until they moved to Hereford. Mr. Steele is still a vice-president of Inter-State National Bank of Kansas City.

Mrs. Steele, who died about 6:30 Friday evening, had been in ill health for five years.

Living relatives include her husband, one daughter and one son: Mrs. J.C. McCracken, Hereford; Sam D. Steele, Ft. Sumner. One sister, Mrs. Frank Turner of Decauter [sic], survives along with a brother, Joe Hines, of Abilene.

Four grandchildren are Mrs. Bob West, Denver, Patsy Wiltshire, Hereford, Jack McCracken, Hereford; Sylvia McCracken, Hereford.

A great-grandchild is Cynthia Ann West of Denver.

Interment will be at West Park Cemetary [sic] under direction of Gililand Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ezra Norton, James W. Witherspoon, Jim Bob Allison, Oscar Earley, Cliff Estes, Miles Roberson, Colby Conkwright and Cliff Acker.
