Vicente Gaytan Vasquez, 79, of Amarillo died Tues. Jan. 28, 2014 at North West Texas Hospital in Amarillo.

Vicente Gaytan Vasquez was born May 5, 1934 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, to parents, Juan Francisco and Gregoria Gaytan Vasquez.

He married the love of his life, Loupie Flores, August 14, 1959, at Dimmitt. She preceded him in death in December 2010. He served in the military in Mexico.

Vicente was a great cook and loved to cook for his family. He was a good story teller and a jokester. Vicente Fernandez was his favorite singer and he enjoyed listening to his music. He was known as Papa to his grandchildren. Vicente touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

Preceding him in death are his wife Loupie Flores in 2010; his parents; 2 sisters, Lazara Diaz, Pepa Vasquez; 1 brother, Juan Vasquez.

HEREFORD - Loupie Flores Vasquez, 73, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010.

Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. today in Hereford Heritage Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Mass of Resurrection of Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hereford with the Rev. Nick Gerber as celebrant. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Vasquez was born Sept. 29, 1937, in Bronte to Fabian and Juanita Flores Menjares. She married her love on Aug. 14, 1959, in Dimmitt.

Survivors include her husband; six daughters, Noelia Hernandez, Herminia Salazar, Lucy Vasquez, Gloria Luna, Angela Martinez and Elizabeth Vasquez, all of Amarillo; five sons, Freddy Vasquez of Hereford, and Juan Vasquez, Pablo Vasquez, Tony Vasquez and Adam Vasquez, all of Amarillo; a sister, Maria Azua of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Jose Flores of Dallas; 34 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
