*Obituary Olive “Maurine” Davis Cooney
Funeral services for Maurine Cooney, 92, of Odessa will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Burial was in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooney died Thursday, January 14, in Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa.
She was born September 25, 1911, in Eliasville, the daughter of John Dillard Davis and Osie Lacy Davis. She graduated from Breckenridge High School. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from North Texas State University and a M.E. Degree from Sul Ross University. She was married to Patrick Henry Cooney on July 18, 1935, in Dallas. They moved to Andrews in 1955 from Vivian, La. She taught school in Texas and Louisiana for 44 years. She retired in 1977 from the Andrews Schools after 22 years. They moved to Odessa in 1996.
