A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Robert Franco, age 77 of Ackerly, Texas at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating. Interment will follow to Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. along with a Rosary prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Robert passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 in Lamesa. He was born on January 18, 1940 in Karnes City, Texas. Robert married Consuelo Estrada, August 12, 1962 in Lamesa.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Consuelo Franco in July 2010; his parents, Erasmo and Maria Franco; his brothers, Albert Franco, Israel Franco, and Ismael Franco.
Robert enjoyed drinking coffee with his friends, visiting casinos, and farming was his passion until his retirement.
Robert is survived by family, his children, Alda Valdez and husband Thomas Valdez of Lubbock, Texas, Alden Franco and wife, Estella Franco of Allen, Texas, and Allen Franco and wife, Angela Franco of Lubbock, Texas; his brother, Raymundo Franco of Lubbock, Texas; his sisters, Fidelfa De Los Santos of Ackerly, Texas, Oralia Ortiz of Lubbock, Texas, Manuela Ancira of Lubbock, Texas, Rachel Zarate of Ackerly, Texas, and Linda James of Lubbock, Texas; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
