*Obituary Stella Walker Brooks
Stella O. Brooks of Big Spring passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the age of 88 years.

Services will be Friday, August 20, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with burial immediately following at the Salem Cemetery.

Stella was born on March 10, 1922 to Mack William and Georgia Walker and was one of 12 siblings. She grew up on the family farm just northeast of Big Spring. She married Jesse Brooks on September 9, 1939. Being one of the "greatest generation," Stella enjoyed working outdoors on the family farms and was an outstanding homemaker. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmommy, and friend to many. She was a life-long member of Salem Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two sons and their wives, Rodney & Carolyn Brooks and Marty & Melissa Brooks of Coahoma; two daughters and one son-in-law, Diane & Ronnie Wood of Big Spring and Iva Jo Hanslik of Sand Springs. Her grandchildren include, Reagan & April Brooks and their children, Ali, Emily & Ryley; Ron & Angel Brooks and their children, Brittney, Jess, Laurel, & Seth; Penni & Kaddo Kothmann and their children, Meagan & Kadden; Cory & Mandy Anderson and son, Chase; Justin Wood; Mandi Hanslik and daughter, Cydnee; Michael & Chandra Brooks and daughter, Landry; Tonia Brooks and son, Cody; and Collin McMillan. She is also survived by one sister, Lillie Robinson of Granbury, sisters-in-law, Faye Walker and Mary Sue Walker of Big Spring, Bernice Fuller, Marie Snow and Ruth Blackburn of Abilene and brother-in-law, Wayne Brooks of Pampa. Stella's extended family that she loved dearly is all the staff at Parkplace Retirement Center.

In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse, one daughter, Judy Anderson, one son-in-law, Sid Hanslik, her nine brothers, Willis, Johnny, Shirley, Leslie, Noble, Deward, Dillard, Carroll and Jerrold Walker and one sister, Veda McKee.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to your favorite charity. The family will gather at 201 S. Salem Road.
