*Obituary Mary Ann Hodnett Baker
Born to a West Texas pioneer family in February of 1936, Mary Ann Baker peacefully left this world in the same month as her birth. She was born February 17 to Lanham Brown and Mary Lois Hodnett in Howard County. The elder sister to Guy Hodnett of Sand Springs and to the late Roger "Butch" Hodnett of Vincent, she attended school with them in Coahoma. There she met the love of her life and was later wed to Bobby Gene Baker who still resides in Sand Springs. The couple lived out their enduring love affair together for more than fifty-eight years. They raised five children from West Texas to the plains of New Mexico and back! Randy Baker of Tyler, Texas, Micky Baker-Berta of Hobbs, New Mexico, Robert Baker of Gardendale, Texas, Misty Baker of Coahoma, Texas, and Christy Clark of Big Spring, Texas. Her greatest joys were found in the family time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

She also had a lifelong love for animals, especially dogs and horses. Horses remained a real pleasure in her life and carried over to her love of horse racing in the mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico. The Bakers are gamblers by nature and Ann was no exception - she spent countless holidays of late night poker games and thrilled to the sound of coins falling from the slots.
Ann is survived by her husband Bobby, her brother Guy, all of her children; Randy & Kim, Micky & Ray, Robert, Misty, and Christy, her grandchildren; Brandon Baker of Longview, Texas, Alison Wells of Lubbock, Texas, Randal Clark of Midland, Texas, Cole Clark of Hobbs, New Mexico, Jeremy Baker of Tyler, Texas, Bryan Parker of Lubbock, Texas, Jordyn Caraway of Kilgore, Texas, and Misty Dawn Gray of Dallas, Texas.

The family will receive friends from 7:00pm - 8:00pm, Friday evening at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. The celebration of her life will be held at 2:30pm, Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Myers & Smith Chapel, 301 East 24th Street, Big Spring, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice House Foundation, 903 North Sam Houston, Odessa, Texas 79761. The family wishes to especially thank them as they took such wonderful care of Mom in her final days.

Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
