Charles Baker, 78 of Coahoma died Friday, Feb 02, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Elwin Collom, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Coahoma Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

He was born Sept 18, 1928 in Taylor County to Mary and John Baker. He moved to Howard County in 1947 from Abilene. He had been employed at the Permian Building for 20 years, and then the city of Big Spring until 1977, retiring due to ill health. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Baker of Coahome; four daughters, Benda Kile of Crestview, Fla., Seretha Baker and Lily Boone, both of Paradise, Calif., and Tonya Baker of Coahoma; two sons, Ronald Baker of Henderson and Raymond Baker of Coahoma; one brother Wayne Baker of Washington; one sister, Seretha Fay Baker of Abilene; 13 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles Baker, Jr., and one daughter, Robbie Jean Baker.

The family suggests memorial to Big Spring Kennel Club, P.O. box 2142, Big Spring 79721. The family will be at 803 Culp in Coahoma.
