OBITUARY: Taken from Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Dated Mar. 28, 2011
Rita M. Baker, 97, of Coahoma, died on Monday, March 28, 2011, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Chaplain Cherise Felty with Home Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow at the Coahoma Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the funeral home.
She was born on September 15, 1913, in Doole, Texas and married Boyd H. Baker on November 5, 1931 in Brady, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1992. Mrs. Baker came to Coahoma in 1948 and had worked at the Coahoma School cafeteria. She was a member of the Coahoma Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, Bobby Baker and wife, Mary Ann of Big Spring; three grandchildren, Randy Baker and wife, Kim of Tyler, Micky Berta and husband, Ray of Hobbs, New Mexico and Robert Baker of Gardendale; nine great grandchildren, Alison Wells of Lubbock, Jeremy Baker of Odessa, Brian Parker of Lubbock, Misty Baker and fiance, Chris Hogg of Coahoma, Christy Clark of Big Spring, Misty Dawn Gray and husband, John of Dallas, Randal Clark of Midland, Cole Clark and wife, Ema of Hobbs, New Mexico and Jordyn Caraway of Kilgore; eight great great grandchildren, Brent, Maddie, Xavier, Teagan, Isiah, Mikayla and Katelyn; and eight nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Home Hospice of Big Spring, 111 E. 7th, Suite A, Big Spring, Texas 79720. The family extends a special thank you to Home Hospice of Big Spring and nurses, Betty and Becky for their wonderful care.
