Jerline Averitt, 87, of Big Spring, died Friday January 17, 2014 at her residence.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Myers and Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial following at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel. Pastor Eddy Prince will be officiating.

She was born to Ollie and Henry David Ayers in Gilliam, Arkansas on September 30, 1926.

She was a longtime resident of Howard County moving to Big Spring in 1943 from DeQueen, Arkansas.

She married William Bryan Averitt December 7, 1944 in Campbell, California. He died March 3, 1987.

She was a self-employed cake decorator.

She is survived by two daughters: Jeane Ward and husband James of Big Spring and Betty Hoffman and husband James of Midland; four grandchildren: Stephanie Wright and husband Phillip of Midland, Allen Ward of Lubbock, Christopher Ward of Big Spring and James Hoffman of Midland; six great grandchildren: Cassidy Feaster, Quinten Feaster, Brighton Feaster, Hanley Ward, Ryan Ward and Bailey Rogers; two great-great grandchildren: Wyatt Johnston and Coleman Ward; one brother David Ayers and wife Barbara of Big Spring; one sister-in-law: Alma Claire Simpson of Odessa and several nieces and nephews.
