Winona (Cartwright) Welch, 87 years old, of Coahoma, Texas went to be with her Lord, Friday, October 13, 2017 in Big Spring, Texas.

Winona was born in Paducah, Texas on July 4, 1930 to John Delaney & Annie (Cooper) Cartwright.

She graduated from Paducah High school and was working at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company when she met and married Cecil Welch on Oct. 17, 1951 in Paducah. Cecil passed away in 1996.

Winona lived and worked with her husband on ranches most of her married life. When she moved to town, she enjoyed keeping her yard, painting ceramics, cooking cakes and making candy for the holidays.

She was devoted to her family and as long as she was able hosted holiday celebrations at her home.

To countless people who knew her and loved her, she was simply “Nanny”!

Winona was a member of the United Methodist Church in Coahoma, Texas.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her children Randy Welch & wife Sonia of Big Spring, TX, Renae Garner & husband Charley of Cartwright, OK, Roylyn Welch of Big Spring, TX, and Cherri Rainey & husband, Kent of Big Spring, TX; eight grandchildren, Christy Welch, Cindy Welch, Jennifer Chandler, Tuff Metcalf (Priscilla), Jamie Garner, Meagan Hansen (Nathan), Taylor Lara (Justin), & Reagan Rainey & 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Cody Ross Welch, sister Anne Smith of Paducah, Texas, sister Imogene Cartwright who died in infancy, brother Billy Cartwright of Paducah, TX and sister Juanita Wood of Tucson, AZ.

Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 16, 2017 at Coahoma Cemetery.

The family will welcome guests from 4:30 PM until 5:30 PM Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tuff Metcalf, Jamie Garner, Justin Lara, Trenton Crenshaw, Braxton Chandler and Russell Welch.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Parkview Nursing Center for the love and care they have shown our mother over the last several years. May God bless each of you.
