Erwin Elgan Young, son of Tolbert Fanning Young and Laura Jane (Flowers) Young, was a blacksmith in Kress, Swisher County, Texas for 25 years. He married Hattie Mae McCune on November 12, 1910 in Lockney, Floyd County, Texas. In 1948, he retired due to poor health and he and Mae moved to Marble Falls, Texas. He died there in his home.
His funeral service was at Kress Church of Christ where he was a member.
He was predeceased by his son, Roy McCune "Mack" Young, who died as a POW in Japan on August 15, 1945.
Erwin Young was survived by his wife, Hattie Mae; five daughters, Odeta, Delia, Erma, Vineta and Glenna; and four sons, Lee, Floyd, Eddie and Teddy
