Funeral services for Lola Hardin Nix, 87, formerly of Andrews, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Dr. H.A. Hanks officiating. Burial followed at the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
She died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Mariner Healthcare of Cypress Wood in Houston.
She was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Mitchell County to Harley Dallas Mearse and Maude Richardson Mearse. She married Odis Hardin on July 9, 1937, in Loraine, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1962. She moved to Andrews in 1943. On Nov. 11, 1964, she married Dennis Nix. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1989.
She was active on the Andrews Senior Citizen Center Board, managed several local restaurants, and was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Victory Singers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and a daughter, Jannette Johnson, on Oct. 4, 2004.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandi Whitworth of Houston; sister, Gwindola Roberts of Tulsa, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Coza Nix Bostick of Leigh Acres, Fla., and Millie McDonald of Wimberly; a stepson, Drexell Nix of Leigh Acres, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a cousin, Janell Moore of Andrews; and a niece, Serena Nelson of Andrews.
