*Obituary Leroy William Jennings
Profound love of God, country and family exemplifies the life of longtime Andrews resident LeRoy W. Jennings. He passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 after a courageous 2 year battle with esophageal cancer.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Dr. Jeff Donnell and Doug Kello officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

LeRoy was born on September 18, 1923, the only child of G.C. and Nettie Jennings in Coweta, Oklahoma. In 1942 at the age of 18, LeRoy enlisted in the US Army Air Force and became a glider pilot. He was part of the Battle of Normandy, as well as the invasion of southern France and Europe. He married Mary Beth Langford on February 3, 1946 in Nocona, Texas. LeRoy worked in Gainesville, Texas as an electrician before moving to Andrews in 1949. He then worked 36 years for Sinclair and ARCO, retiring in 1985. After retirement he enjoyed golf, fishing, dominoes, loved the outdoors, and spent many happy hours gardening. LeRoy was a long time member of the First Baptist Church, where he served many years on the funeral meals committee. He and his wife, Mary delivered Meals-On-Wheels for over 13 years. He was also a member of the Andrews Country Club, Andrews Masonic Lodge #1024, and the Shriners. LeRoy devoted his life to loving and caring for his family and was a devoted husband and father. Each day was a gift to cherish and LeRoy enjoyed it to the fullest.

LeRoy is survived by the love of his life, Mary Beth Jennings of Andrews. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary on February 3, 2006. He is also survived by two daughters, who were the light of his life: Cheri McLennan and husband, Mike of Midland and Jan Anderson and husband, Hal of Belton; 4 grandchildren: Scott, Kristi, Kyle, and Kendall; 2 great grandchildren: Rebecca and Jasmine.

Memorials may be sent to the Andrews Senior Center, 310 West Broadway, Andrews, Texas 79714 or Home Hospice, 803 North Main Street, Andrews, Texas 79714.
