Mary R. Detjens, 90, passed away July 21, 2014 at the home of her son in Austin, Texas. She was born February 21, 1924 in Columbus, Wisconsin to William and Hannah Jones.

Mary graduated from Columbus High School in 1942 and Milwaukee County Nursing College in 1946. Upon graduation she served as a Registered Nurse for 30 years at Holy Cross Hospital in Merrill, Wisconsin. On October 8, 1946 she married David O. Detjens in Columbus, Wisconsin.
In 1955, Mary helped her husband run an electrical contracting business and in 1971 they co-founded a retail store called Electrical Wiring and Supplies. David and Mary operated these businesses until 1985.

Mary was an active member of the Assembly of God church in Merrill, Wisconsin, as well as Carlsbad, New Mexico, Austin, Texas and Bagdad, Florida. She taught Sunday School and other children's programs for many years. Mary loved to sing in the choir and performed many solos. She was also active in the Gideons International, International Good Neighbor Council, and the West Side Businessman's Association of Merrill, Wisconsin.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband David on September 3, 2003. She leaves to cherish her memory her five children; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
