Services for Pearlie McGill, 94, of Andrews, were held Monday, Jan. 23, at Means Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Doyle, pastor of Means Memorial United Methodist Church and the Rev. Earl Blair, Canyon. Burial followed in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Pearlie died Friday, January 20, 2006, at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
She was born on Nov. 24, 1911, in Erath County and graduated from Lamesa High School in 1931. She received her teaching certificate from McMurry in 1949 and graduated from North Texas in 1954. She taught school in Dawson County and in Andrews for a total of 23 years.
Pearlie married Vernon Wilson Bryant, Sr. in Lamesa in May of 1938. Vernon preceded her in death on April 25, 1943. She married Guy McGill in Andrews in 1963. Pearlie was a member of Means Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, John Bryant of San Francisco, Calif., and Vernon Wilson Bryant, Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Fort Worth; a brother, John Shillingburg and wife, Nan-cy, of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Oleta Ad-kins of Midland; two grandchildren, Vernon Wilson Bryant, III and wife, Chelsey, of Austin and Theron L. Bry-ant and wife, Leslie, of Fort Worth; and four great-grandchildren, Vernon Wilson Bryant IV, Chandler Annette Bryant and Bridget Faith Bryant, all of Austin, and Ava Bremond Bryant of Fort Worth.
Preceding Pearlie in death were two brothers, Doyle Shillingburg on April 18, 1986, and Laurence Shillingburg on Oct. 24, 1997; and two sisters, Marie Buchanan on March 5, 1981, and Olena Bingham on Nov. 19, 1981.
