Irene Mayorga Conejo entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning November 20, 2022 peacefully at her home at the age of 86 years. Irene was born on January 26, 1936 in La Casita, Texas to Adan and Consuelo Acevedo Mayorga. She was raised in the home she was born in in La Casita, Texas. She married the love of her life, Bonifacio Conejo on January 7, 1958, in Elsa, Texas. Together they began their life and moved to Seagraves, Texas. Irene was a very dedicated mother and housewife and raised 5 successful children.
Irene was very active in the community and was a member of St Paul’s Catholic Church, the Guadalupanas and taught many years there as a CCD teacher as well as many other roles. Irene always supported and stood up for what was right in many capacities by being involved in the City of Seagraves City Council and LULAC. Irene was a very astute business women from completing tax returns for the community at her home, buying and selling rental property to selling home product.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Bonifacio Conejo, her parents, Adan and Consuelo Acevedo Mayorga, her sisters, Maria Ernestina Mayora and Maria Magdalena M. Rodriguez. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Arnold Conejo, Daniel Conejo (wife Debbie), Enedelia Gober (husband Ron), Celinda Castleman (husband Douglas) and Dalia Smith (husband Clint). 19 of her precious grandchildren will also miss and cherish her dearly as well as her 36 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Joanna Aranda (husband Bogar) is and will also be considered a member of the family and we will also be grateful to the love they expressed to our mother.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all her caregivers especially to Manuela Lozano and Gisela Muniz in her last days. They were angels sent by God to care for her to the very end. The family also wishes to express much appreciation to Bridges Hospice for the care provided to our dear mother in her last days.
Visitation for Irene will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 at the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel located at 312 12th Street in Seagraves and the Conejo Family will be receiving friends and family to pay their respects during the visitation between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., followed by the Rosary which will be held at 6:00 p.m.
A mass of Christian burial rites will be celebrated on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, at 805 12th Street, Seagraves, Texas followed by internment at Seagraves Cemetery.
