Joyce Kemper Ditto, 86, of Big Spring, died Monday, August 11, 2014 in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Shawn Gary and Derrick Looney, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born June 16, 1928 in Dallas, Texas and married Clarence "Son" Ditto December 21, 1946 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death January 21, 2002.
She was a longtime resident of Howard and Martin counties. She graduated from Knott High School and attended college in Lubbock. Joyce raised her family on her grandparents homestead in Knott and was a homemaker and hard worker. She loved quilting and helped make quilts for the raffle at the Howard County Fair.
She was an active member of the 14th and Main Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, Kyle Ditto and wife, Valencia of Granbury; her daughter, D'Aun Taylor and husband, Ron of Knott; three grandchildren, Tad Taylor, Dr. Shey Ditto and wife, Connie and Colby Ditto and wife, Atyka; four great-grandchildren, Blayne Ditto, Brayden Ditto, Akyah Ditto and Tyler Ditto; and a sister, Louellen Romine of Arkansas.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, James and Grace Kemper; a sister, Marvelene Dickson; and a brother, James Ollie Kemper.
The family suggests memorials to Medina Children's Home, 21300 State Highway 16 North, Medina, Texas 78055.
