*Obituary Hazel M. Stroman Duggan
Hazel Duggan, 91, of Big Spring, passed away on Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at a Midland nursing home. Funeral services will be held on Thurs, Oct 16, 2008 at 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Big Spring with Rev. Jerry Berry of Kelview Heights Baptist Church of Midland officiating.

Hazel was born on Jan 30, 1917 to Ed and Clara Stroman in San Marcos, TX. She grew up in San Marcos, TX and attended schools there.

She married William "Bill" Duggan on Jan 1, 1951 in Corpus Christi, TX. He preceded her in death in 1979.

She attended San Marcos Teachers School obtaining her teaching certificate. Hazel taught school in Gregory, Austin and Big Spring. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and volunteered there a great deal. Whatever needed to be done at the church, she was willing to do. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Big Spring State Hospital, the VA Hospital, Mobile Meals, Salvation Army and The Chalet and working with the literacy program at the Howard County Library. Volunteering and helping others was Hazel's passion. She was a member of the Big Spring Art Club, RSVP, and Retired Teachers Assoc. Hazel loved to travel and especially enjoyed traveling with her church to UT where she and others built a church on an Indian reservation there. She was an excellent artist and won many awards for her paintings and drawings.

Survivors include, a daughter, Carol Eggleston and husband Don of Midland; a son, David Duggan and wife Chrissy of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Angela Gross and husband Dr. Mario, Wesley Eggleston all of Midland, and Davey Duggan of Los Angeles, CA; one g-grandchild, Sophie Gross of Midland, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill Duggan, two brothers, Oscar and Leonard Stroman, and one sister, Gladys Stroman.
