Verma Lea Enfield, 91, of Bonham, formerly of Big Spring, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring, Texas. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring, Texas.

Verma was born July 18, 1929 in Ana coco, Louisiana to Nancy Davis Sandell and Ester Lee Sandell. Verma was very active in her church and the community. She served as Airport Elementary PTA president, Big Spring Associational Director for GA/Acteens, and president for the Howard County Extension. She also taught Sunday school and sang in her church choir for many years. She was a long-time member of Airport Baptist Church and Berea Baptist Church of Big Spring.
Verma loved spending time in the kitchen, making delicious meals for her family, friends, and church. She was an excellent seamstress and created quilts, pillows, and clothing for family and friends. She was a fierce 42 domino player and liked to win! She was also an avid reader. She loved to work the daily newspaper crossword puzzles. She never gave up the etiquette of sending letters, cards, and thank you notes. Verma loved to sing and was an alto. She often sang specials in church accompanied by her family and friends. Verma wrote two books about her life that are cherished by her family, The Way We Were and Stories of Laughter and Happy Times.

Verma survived an abduction in 2014 and almost died. She often shared her courageous story and testimony to both large and small groups, including a video, crusade, conferences, church gatherings, and a graduation. She was known as a strong woman of faith in Jesus Christ and His Word. She had enduring love for family and hosted many family reunions. Her life was full of love and laughter and she will be missed by her family and a myriad of friends.
Surviving children are daughter, Cynthia McCullough and husband John, daughter Tracy Hodges and husband Jay, son, Paul Decker, and sister, Virginia Meek. Grandchildren are Joel McCullough, Julie Davis, Crystal Ramirez, Laura Carrillo, Holly Little, and Amanda Abel. She has 12 great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in Death by Husband, P. B. “Buddy” Enfield, parents, Nancy and Ester Sandell, brother, Vaughan Sandell, sister, Alphreida Wilson, and daughters, Omenda Lea Decker and Carolyn Abel, and the father of her children, Omer Decker.

Pallbearers will be Jay Hodges, Calvin Meek, Richard Meek, Joel McCullough, Sean Davis and Abiel Carrillo.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Berea Baptist Church, 4204 Wasson Road, Big Spring, Texas 79720.
