*Obituary Virtle L. Faires
Faries, Virtle L., 79, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, November 25, 2000, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM Monday, November 27, 2000, at the Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church with his son, Elder Gail Faries and Elder Jeff Harris, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park with Elder Howard Jernigan, officiating.

He was born on February 5, 1921 in Wappapello, Missouri and married Faye Hardy on October 11, 1942 in Perryton, Texas. He graduated from Puxico, Missouri High School in 1939 as salutatorian. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Faries was a residential building contractor and farmer in Perryton until 1983 when he moved to Colorado City. He then moved to Big Spring in 1999. He joined the Perryton Primitive Baptist Church on October 4, 1942 and was baptized by Elder J. B. Hardy. Mr. Faries joined the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church of Colorado City in 1983 and was ordained as a deacon in 1987. He joined the Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church in Big Spring in 1992 and served as a deacon there until his death. He assisted in the building of church buildings in Perryton, Abilene, Big Spring and Luling.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Faries of Big Spring; one daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Steve Hall of Aurora, Colorado; one son and daughter-in-law, Gail and Val Faries of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Shawn, Corey and Wesley Hall of Aurora, Colorado and Justin and Shanna Faries of Lubbock; two brothers, John Royal Faries of Farmington, Missouri and Alvin Faries of Puxico, Missouri and one sister, Wanda Hardy of Jackson, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Pauline Johnston. The family suggests memorials to the Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church, 201 24th St., Big Spring, Texas 79720. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

*Obituary Faye W. Hardy Faries
Lubbock- Faye Wynona Faries of Lubbock, Tx. was born to James and Gertrude Hardy on August 26, 1924 in Kingman, Ks. At the time of her birth the family resided in Ochiltree County, TX. She grew up on a farm 17 miles south of Perryton during the great depression. She attended the McMillon country school and graduated from Perryton High School in 1942.

She married Virtle Faries on October 11, 1942 at the family home south of Perryton. They farmed west of Perryton. She was an important part of the farm operation. She was a very active in the Waka Home Demonstration Club for many years.

Her greatest joy was serving the Lord. She joined the Perryton Primitive Baptist Church and was baptized by her grandfather, Elder J.B. Hardy on May 2, 1942. She and her husband traveled extensively to attend church meetings across Texas and the nation.

She passed from this life on January 9, 2021 at the age of 96 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virtle Faries on November 25, 2000, a grandson Corey Hall, two brothers Paul Hardy and Byrl Hardy, two sisters Wilma Gipson and Helen Blackwell Britton.

She is survived by a daughter, Jan Hall and husband Steve of Centennial, Colorado, a son Gail Faries and wife Val of Lubbock, sister Elda Schwalk of Perryton, Tx, grandsons Shawn Hall of Centennial, CO, Wesley Hall and wife Katy of Thornton, Colorado, Justin Faries of Lubbock, granddaughter Shanna Faries of Lubbock, and one great granddaughter, Dylan Hall.

Her tabernacle of clay will be laid to rest on January 13, 2021 in Trinity Memorial Park near Big Spring, TX. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Lubbock Primitive Baptist Church. Her family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 p.m., Tuesday at Sanders Funeral Home.
