J. W. Fryar, 90, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, in the Stanton nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 8, 2006 at the 14th and Main Church of Christ with Rick Cunningham, minister, officiating and Larry Marshall, minister of Knott Church of Christ, assisting. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born on October 16, 1915, in Howard County, Texas and married Imogene Harland on June 27, 1934 in Lovington, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on October 9, 1989.J. W.'s parents were J. W. Fryar, Sr. and Ida Bell Hull Fryar, a pioneer Howard County family. A lifetime resident of Howard County, J. W. farmed all of his life in the Knott Community until retiring in 1983. He enjoyed bowling and going to the coffee shop. He belonged to the Knott Church of Christ for fifty years and was currently a member of 14th and Main Church of Christ.

Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Claud and Patsy Fryar, Roland and Sara Fryar, and Ronald Fryar all of Big Spring, and Tommy and Donna Fryar of Austin; one daughter and son-in-law, Bernell and Tiny Bayes of Sand Springs; twenty grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Annette Fryar as an infant and Ida Lou Beall on January 11, 1999; seven brothers and two sisters. The family suggest memorials be made to New Mexico Christian Children's Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, NM 88130, or a favorite charity.
