Billie Jean Howell On April 14, 2014, Billie Jean Howell went home to be with her Lord. Jean was born in Rosehill, Texas, on October 18, 1929 to Everette Clay and Sula Pauline Cooper. Since retiring one of her passions was writing poetry which sometimes was humorous but was always inspirational in nature. She was a member of the Poetry Society of Texas. Jean was an active member of First Baptist Church Wylie for over 30 years. She exercised her musical gifts as part of the Silver Chords Choir and made many mission trips throughout the United States, ministering to many people with a message of hope in their songs. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Willam Howell and her son, George Jenkins. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Kathy Jenkins of Rowlett, Texas; her two brothers and sisters-n-law, Jerry Dale and Barbara Cooper of Sachse, Texas, and Dan Rex and Mary Nell Cooper of Wylie, Texas, and her sister, Sharon McMinn of Garland, Texas, two grandchildren, a great-grandchild, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at First Baptist Church Wylie, on Friday, April 18, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. A. L. Draper presiding, assisted by Worship Pastor Allen Stroud. Internment will be at the Wylie Cemetery. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." (Psalm 116:15)
