Edith Laverne Hampton Gary, 88, beloved Mother, Wife and Grandmother was called to her eternal resting place May 15, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born September 5, 1928 in Buckholts, Texas to Frank and Mary Hampton. She married John W. Gary, Sr. August 28, 1949 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Big Spring. Laverne was a successful real estate broker for many years and was a member of the 1953 Hyperion Club of Big Spring.

Laverne is survived by two sons, John W. Gary, Jr. and wife, Patti of Grapevine, and Lonnie F. Gary of Lubbock; a daughter Janet Gary Roberson and husband, Ron of Lubbock; and five grandchildren, Grayson J. Gary of Denton, Hilary H. Gary of Grapevine, Emily A. Wagner and husband, Jeremy of Lubbock, Matthew P. Roberson and wife, Lacy of Houston, and Katheryn "Katie" N. Roberson of Orlando, Florida.

She is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
