*Obituary Janice M. Owens Gaskins
Janice Gaskins, 68, of Coahoma, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Midway Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Binnix officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born March 30, 1947, in McAllen to Mildred and Jack Owens. She graduated from Big Spring High School and Texas State Technological College in Sweetwater with a degree in nursing. She also earned a pharmacy tech license.

She married Ronnie L. Gaskins Aug. 17, 1977, in Fort Worth. He preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2012.

She worked at Webb Air Force Base, Safeway as bakery manager, and later at the Veterans Administration Medical Center as a nurse and later as a pharmacy tech. She was a lifetime resident of Howard County, except for five years at Lake Thomas. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters,Rhonda Gaskins-Carey and her husband Randy of San Angelo, Tasha Rinard and her husband Jim of Big Spring and Trisha Dodson and her husband Lewis of Coahoma; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Hendrickson and Donna Marlow and her husband Tom, all of Big Spring; 10 grandchildren, Britney Griffin, Mica Partlow, Kendra Partlow, Austin Rinard, Tyler Frazier, Whitney Dodson, Coley Rinard, Tanner Dodson, Sydney Rinard and Shaylee Dodson; several great-grandchildren, including Lacy Pearson and Mason Pearson, whom she was raising like a son; and two other great grandchildren on the way, Ayden J. Stanley and one who is yet to be named.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her father, Jack Owens; her mother, Mildred Owens Gamble; step-father, Joe Gamble; a daughter, era Gaskins; a son, Ronnie "Butch" Gaskins Jr., and a sister, Jackie LaJuan Bracewell.

Pallbearers will be Jim Rinard, Austin Rinard, Lewis Dodson, Kaleb Stanley, Michael Arista and Isaac Willborn. Honorary pallbearers will be Heath Hendrickson, Cody Carlyle and Tommy Cartwright.
