Rayford Gillihan, 92, of Big Spring, passed away peacefully May 6, 2017.
He was born in Dunn, TX on June 29, 1924.Rayford was a World War II veteran and POW.
After his military service, he entered the car business in Big Spring. During his 65 years of car business, he sold used cars and owned the Chrysler dealership in the early sixties. He was President of the Western District of the Texas Independent Auto Dealers Association. He continued to sell used vehicles until he retired in 2008. Rayford was a member of the local Fraternal Order of Eagles.Rayford enjoyed travel, dancing and playing the slot machines. He also loved to hunt with his family and friends on the Foster Ranch in Sterling City. He had many friends and thoroughly enjoyed life and his family.
Rayford is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Minnie Gillihan, his wife Wanda Gillihan, six brothers and five sisters.
He was survived by his wife, Jo Reba Gillihan of Big Spring; his first wife, Opal Martin; three sons, Waylan Gillihan and wife Clark, Gary Gillihan and wife Glenda, Lonnie Gillihan and wife Christie; daughter, Sherri Adkins and husband David; seven grandchildren, Adam Gillihan, Michael Gillihan, Chris Spencer, Brad Gillihan, Brent Harris, Lee Gillihan and Andrea Wright; eight great-grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel, Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring. The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 7 PM Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley0-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.,
