A Cahtolic Funeral Service Mass was celebrated for 83 year old Maria Reyes Garica of Lamesa on the date of Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating with Deacon Daniel Valenzuela assisting. Burial followed at Dawson County Cemtery under the direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. Rosary services were held at 7PM on both Sunday and Monday nights at the funeral home.
Maria passed away Sunday morning on March 9, 2013 at her residence in Lamesa. She was born on October 23, 1929 in Brady, Texas. Maria married Lorenzo Garcia on February 26 ,1955 in Lamesa. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and was a "Crusillita"
Preceded her in death was her husband, Lorenzo Garcia; her parents, Carlos and Virginia Reyes; three sisters, Lupe Moreno, Maria De Jesus Reyes and Julia Sanchez; one brother, Juan Reyes.
Survivors include her two sons, Alfredo Garcia and wife, Frances and Juan Lorenzo Garcia and wife, Stella, all of Lamesa; five sisters, Rosa Solora, Helen Sanchez and Jimmy Reyes, all of Lamesa, Juanita Garza of Seagraves, Texas and AltaGracia Moreno of Pharr, Texas; grandchildren, Brittany Garcia, Shelby Garcia, Mickey Garcia and wife, Amanda, all of Lamesa and Amy Rosa and husband, Adam of Lubbock; great-grand-daughter, Aurianna Garcia of Lamesa.
