Funeral services for Joan Ladell Caswell Gibbs "Jodell", 69, of Lamesa will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Nazarene with John Rogers and Sid Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Church of the Nazarene from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Jodell passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014 in Lamesa.
She was born April 10, 1945 in Brownfield to Earl Doyle and Era Lea (Minter) Caswell. Jodell married Leon Gibbs September 7, 1963 in Brownfield. They were married 51 years. She partnered with her husband as owner of Gibbs Printing. She was a talented graphic artist and office manager and could teach herself most anything if she didn't already know how to do it. Jodell grew up working hard on a farm south of Gomez with her parents and sisters. She took great care of her family and her and Leon's business all while also having been employed by ASCS in Terry County and West Texas Compress.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Gibbs of Lamesa; son, Michael Doyle Gibbs and wife, Tammy of Lamesa; sisters, Judy Beadles and husband, Frankie of Lubbock, Carla Rogers and husband, John of Lubbock, Barbara Hill and husband, Sid of Cleburne, and Ida Haley and husband, Don of Brownfield; grandchildren, Aaron Combs, Desiree Marshall, and Rachael Fisher. Jodell is preceded in death by her parents; and son, Timothy Scott Gibbs.
