*Obituary Roger Dean “Hoot” Gibson
Memorial services for R.D. "Hoot" Gibson, 82, of Lamesa, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Nathan McBride & Bro. Clifton Igo officiating, under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.

Hoot died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at his residence.

He was born Roger Dean Gibson on May 22, 1925, in Dawson County, to James & Eva Dean Gibson.

He married Anna Jo Mc Elyea, on Jan. 23, 1947, in Lamesa.

Hoot was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, where he was a member of O.A.S.I.S.. He served in the U.S Navy from 1944 to 1946. He farmed and ranched for many years in Dawson and Gaines counties. He was also a charter member of The Lamesa Rodeo Association and was very active with Senior Citizens.

Hoot donated his body to Texas Tech Health Science Center.

He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Survivors include wife, Anna Jo Gibson of Lamesa, TX; two sons, Roy Gibson & wife Joyce of Jacksonville, Ark., and Joe Gibson & wife Jean of Seminole, TX; grandchildren, Jason & Tabitha Gibson of Benbrook, Stacy Gibson of Plano, TX, Robby Gibson of Cabot, Ark., and Heather & Heath Daniel of West Fork, Ark.; great grandchildren, Kaylee & Madisen Gibson of Benbrook, TX, Maeghan & Savannah Gibson of Jacksonville, Ark., and Taylor & Hunter Daniel of West Fork, Ark.; brothers, Jim Gibson & wife Faye of Lubbock, TX, Weldon Gibson of Loop, David Gibson & wife Linda of Lamesa, TX; sisters, Eva Nell Wood & husband Willis of Lubbock, TX, Annette Johnson & husband Jim of Bella Vista, Ark. and Jeanette Berger of Amarillo, TX; Many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Eva Dean Gibson.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Odyssey Hospice of Big Spring, Dawson Co. Museum, American Heart Association and the First Baptist Church T.V. Ministry Fund.
