Funeral services for Ocie H. Goforth, 88, of Lamesa, will be held on Tuesday,
February 21, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Adams
officiating. Following the service, he will be interred next to his wife in the Lamesa Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Ocie passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, in Lamesa.
He was born on July 4, 1928, in Waxahachie, Texas to Leroy Goforth and Grace E. (Dodson) Goforth. He married Lola Mae Cumbie on September 18, 1949, in Kermit, Texas. She preceded him in death on their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary, September 18, 2015.

Ocie was a long time member of Second Baptist Church. He had been retired for
twenty years after working many, many years in the oilfield service industry, mostly with Parks Well Servicing. He was a strong supporter of the National Rifle Association, Texas Rifle Association and Cal Farley's Texas Boys Ranch. Ocie loved his family and friends very much. He was an avid and loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys since the day the franchise began.
Ocie is survived by his children, David Goforth of Lamesa, Judy Stephens of Lamesa, and Jana Furlow and husband Robby of Lamesa; eight grandchildren, Michael Stephens, Shae Stephens, Jason Stephens, Luke Goforth, Josh Goforth and wife Crystal, Jay Porterfield and wife Kaci, Cory Furlow and wife Traci and Cari Stulz and husband Jake; nine great-grandchildren, Christopher and Garret Stephens, Leevi Stephens, Noah Goforth, Logan, Keaton and Hallie Porterfield, and Davis and Kourtlyn Furlow. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ray Warren and Gordon Goforth, and sisters Inez Ramsey, Georgia Kimberlin, and Willie Greer. Funeral services for Lola Mae Goforth, 83 of Lamesa will be held Monday, September 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Brother Syl Moore and Brother Dennis Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Lola passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015 (her 66th wedding anniversary) in Lamesa.
She was born January 27, 1932 in Olney to Sam Edward and Lola Lee (Tomlinson) Cumbie. She married Ocie H. Goforth September 18, 1949 at First Baptist Church in Kermit by Brother Strauss Atkinson. Lola was a member at Second Baptist Church for many years where she taught Sunday School, was very involved with Training Union and worked with youth. Lola worked at Kid's Korner when her children were in school and later at JCPenney. She loved the Lord and her family.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ocie Goforth; children, David Goforth and wife, Michele of Levelland, Judy Stephens of Lamesa, and Jana Furlow and husband, Robby of Lamesa; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Lola is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters. The family suggests memorials to Interim Hospice, 1307 Tahoka Rd, Ste, B, Brownfield, TX, 79316.
