A Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated for Jose H. Guzman age 78 of Lamesa, TX. at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2020 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Martin Pena officiating. Interment will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday and Thursday at Gonzales Funeral Home with Rosary prayer services at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
Jose passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020 in Lamesa. He was born on August 27, 1941 in Weslaco, TX. He married Gregoria (Joyce) Luna on January 29, 1962 in Lamesa.
Jose is preceded in death by his, wife Gregoria Guzman; his parents, Abelino Guzman and Olidia Sosa Guzman; his sister, Mivervia Guzman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ricardo Luna.
Jose enjoyed watching Western movies, football, listening to Norteno music, and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Johnny Joe Guzman of Seminole, TX.; his daughters, Sandra Ann Gutierrez of Lubbock, TX., Anna Marie Guzman of Lubbock, TX., Mary L. Zimmerman of Lamesa, and Tobie Flores of Grand Junction, CO.; his grandchildren, Robert Lee Garza, Andy Garza, Brittany Nichole Guzman, Justin Isaiah Gutierrez, all of Lubbock, Josh Lugo of Little Elm, TX., Analicia Flores and Sammantha Flores, both of Grand Junction, CO., and Paisley Faith Zimmerman of Lamesa; 12 great-grandchildren; his brother, Abel Guzman and wife, Petra of Lamesa.

Gregoria passed away on Saturday June 23, 2018 at her residence in Lamesa. She was born on May 9, 1939 in Austin, Texas. Gregoria married Jose H. Guzman on January 28, 1962 in Lamesa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ricardo Luna and David Luna; her brothers, Antonio Luna, Sr., and Chris Luna.
Gregoria enjoyed crafts, quilting, cooking and baking for her family and gardening. She also loved spending time with all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
Gregoria is survived by her loving family, her husband of 56 years, Jose H. Guzman of Lamesa; her daughters, Sandra A. Gutierrez and Anna Marie Guzman, both of Lubbock, TX., Mary L. Zimmerman of Lamesa, and Tobie Guzman of Grand Junction, CO.; her son, Johnny Joe Guzman of Lubbock, TX.; eight grandchildren, Robert Lee Garza, Andy Garza, Samantha Jo Flores, Josh Lugo, Analicia Flores, Brittany Guzman, Justin Gutierrez, and Paisley Zimmerman; her brothers, John Luna of Lamesa, Domingo Luna, Sr. of San Antonio, TX., Julian Luna of Odessa, TX., and James Luna of McKinny, TX.; her sisters, Ruby Luna, Delfina (Desi) Luna, and Augie Garza, all of Lamesa, Louisa Martinez and Margaret Navarro, both of Dallas, TX.; eleven great-grandchildren.
