Roberta Kidd Hamil, 99, of Odessa passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021. She was born March 31, 1922 in Lamesa to the late Willie Augusta (Hunt) and James Leslie Kidd.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Being a woman of God, she lived her life according to his teachings. Roberta was a woman with a heart of gold loving everyone. Always with a smile on her face. She was always there to help anyone. Roberta volunteered many hours at VFW Post 4372 where she was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was Auxiliary President for many years. Her love and guidance reached the hearts of many. She selflessly raised her granddaughter, Robbie Zundt, since she was 4-1/2 months old. There are no words to express how truly amazing she was.
Roberta is survived by her son: Tommy Hamil; 11 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Huey Clyde Hamil; parents; son: Robert Hamil; daughters: Roberta Hanson and Martha Copley; brother: J. L. Kidd; and sister: Meoma Lewis.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 5-9 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, June 4, 2021 at 10 AM at Hubbard-Kelly followed by a graveside service at 2 PM at Dawson County Cemetery in Lamesa. Ricky Hanson, Johnny Hanson, Tyler Green, Michael Pipkin, Knicholaus Hanson, Jeffery Glesson and Jeremy Huffman will serve as pallbearers. Joshua Bell is an honorary pallbearer.
