Mary Kathryne Hammon passed away on November 25, 2019 in Port Arthur, Texas.

She was born in Denison, Texas in 1933 to Sam and Sylvia Frazier.

Mary had an older brother, Carl Raymond Frazier (deceased) and a younger brother Don Frazier (deceased).

Mary and her brothers had a wonderful childhood and were well-loved.

Mary had many lifelong friends and she lived most of her life in Big Spring, Texas.

She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for decades.

Mary met Loyd, her husband of 64 years, (who pre-deceased her in 2014) at L & H Drugstore in Odessa. They were married on June 4, 1950.

Mary touched many lives as a daughter, sibling, friend, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mary worked in the office of Cosden Oil Company both at the plant and at the downtown office. Her next job was at the Big Spring Education Employee Federal Credit Union and her last employment was working for Howard County at the Department of Public Safety.

She loved to travel and read.

Mary became so interested in ceramics; she bought her own kiln. She was also very interested in making porcelain dolls and enjoyed her hobby with her friend, Alice Bentley.

Mary loved to bake and cook, I'm sure many folks think of Mom at Thanksgiving and Christmas because of her candies and pumpkin logs.

Survivors include her son Sammy Hammon and wife, Mary, of Port Arthur, two daughters, Glorya Garcia of Lubbock, and Carolyn Johnson and husband, Pat, of Austin. Seven grandchildren: Jason Johnson, Ben Johnson and wife Brenna, Adam Johnson and wife Amanda, Sara Newton and husband Nik, John Hammon, Viana Hammon, Jeff Garcia and wife Lisa. Nine great-grandchildren: Emma, Hunter, Adrina, Trysta, Emilie, Gracie, Benji, Jack, and James Henry, and sister-in-law Shirley Frazier of Albuquerque, and numerous nephews and nieces.

We will miss our beautiful mother and will think of her often.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial at Trinity Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Pay your respects online at www.myersandsmith.com.
