Clarence B. T. Hartfield was born on Apr 25, 1916 to the late Lucy and Robert Hartfield in La Vernia, TX.

He departed this life on Oct 18, 2011. Funeral services will be 10 am Tue, Oct 25, 2011 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm Mon at the funeral home.

He attended school in La Vernia, TX. Clarence moved to Big Spring with his family in 1947. He worked as a farmer for Mr. Cecil Leatherwood. He worked for S. P. Jones Lumber Co. and later as a janitor at the State National Bank of Big Spring, TX, where he retired.

Clarence joined the Church of God in Christ #2 (known today as Power House COGIC) under the leadership of the late Rev. W. Weatherspoon. He served as a deacon and trustee at the Greater Prayer House COGIC under the leadership of Rev. W. H. Watson, Rev. Roger Culberson and the late Rev. Joe Butler of Lamesa, TX.

He was united in holy matrimony to the late Millie Ruth Wallace on Jul 10, 1940 in Seguin, TX. To this union was born three sons, Clarence, Jr., Dennis and the late Sam Hartfield, two daughters, Jo Etta and the late Ora Lee Hartfield.

Mr. Hartfield is survived by two sons, Clarence Jr. of Big Spring, TX and Dennis of Temple, TX; one daughter, Jo Etta Johnson of Baltimore, MD; 10 grandchildren, 16 g-grandchildren and two g-g-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Turner Wallace of San Antonio, TX; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy and Robert; his wife, Millie Ruth; one son, Sam; one daughter, Ora Lee; and two grandsons, Brenton and Kenneth.

We shall be eternally grateful to our Heavenly Father for having such a wonderful and caring father like you. We love you and shall truly miss you. The Children Pallbearers will be Clarance Hartfield, Jr., Willie Forman, Jr., Clarence Forman, Hebrew Jones, Nathaniel Green and Bennie Coe. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommie E. Dixon, Gregory Hartfield, Dennis Hartfield, Jr., O. L. Wallace, Hamilton Hartfield and Andre C. Johnson.

The family suggests memorials be made to Greater Prayer House Church of God in Christ, 702 N. 7th St., Lamesa, TX 79331. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. Online condolences can be made at: www.npwelch.com.
