*OBITUARY
ODESSA — Mr. Allen Harris Jr. was born July 2, 1915, to Mr. and Mrs. Allen Harris Sr. in Mount Pleasant. He later met Clarine Porque at an early age and they were united in marriage Oct. 30, 1937, in Mount Vernon. Mr. Harris was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church of Mount Vernon. He served as an ordained deacon at Olton Baptist Church of Olton and remained faithful to his church. He also gave his service of employment as a maintenance supervisor of Hereford Elementary and other school systems.
Surviving are his daughters, Alice F. Mitchem of Albuquerque, N.M., Barbara M. Morgan of Clovis, N.M., Fletta N. Douglas of Odessa and Eunice M. Harris of Dallas; sons, Johnny R. Harris of Fort Worth, Travis W. Harris of Dallas, Benny E. Harris of Albuquerque, Jerry W. Harris of Newport, Tenn., Danny G. Harris of Corsicana, James E. Harris of Odessa and Marvin A. Harris of Fulton, Mo.; brothers, John A. Harris and A.J. Harris, both of Sulfur Springs, and Gloss “Red” Harris of South Bend, Ind.; sisters, Clarsees Harris and Ola Lamb, both of Phoenix, Era Boyd and Letha Wilson, both of Dallas; 38 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Tatum. Graveside services are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Restlawn Cemetery in Hereford.
