Loray Morris Jeffcoat, 87, of Knott, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 in a Stanton nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the Peace Chapel atTrinity Memorial Park with Rev. Jim Binnix officiating. She was born June 28, 1928 in Big Spring, Texas and married James Jeffcoat April 1, 1944 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death September 22, 1986. Loray was a lifelong resident of Howard County and was a longtime employee of the First National Bank in Big Spring. After the death of her husband, James, she worked as the manager of Luther Gin until retiring, and was one of two women in the state of Texas working as a gin manager. Survivors include one son, Alvis Jeffcoat and wife, Beverly of D'Hanis, Texas; five grandchildren, Joe Don Lilly and wife, Susan, and Jeffery Lilly all of Midland, Janna Turner and husband, Randy of Stanton, Krista Jeffcoat of Lake Jackson and Kara Lands and husband, Justin of Uvalde; and seven great-grandchildren, Brandon Lilly, Martin Lilly, Katelyn Inge, Kenslea Inge, Alvery Lands, Jethro Lands and Amoz Lands. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janie Jeffcoat; her father, Virgil Morris; her mother, Dorothy Windham; and a brother, Billie Joe Morris. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Amy Shofner Memorial Scholarship Fund, % State National Bank, P.O Box 661, Lamesa, Texas 79331.
