Maudine Majors Kasch, 80, of Big Spring, passed away on November 9, 2006 in Ruidoso, New Mexico. "Maudie" as she was known by her friends, was born in Jacksonville, Texas, March 29, 1926. She was the daughter of J.E. and Lillian Majors. She attended public schools in Bryan, Texas.
She married A.F. (Fred) Kasch in Bryan on July 18, 1946. The couple moved to Big Spring in 1949 and were married 30 years when Mr. Kasch passed away in 1976.
Mrs. Kasch is also preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Kay (Katy) Bailey of Snyder; two sisters, Jo Douglass and Billie Garner and a grandson, Tobin Kasch Lain of Kingsville, Texas.
Mrs. Kasch is survived by her son, Don Kasch and wife, Marlene, of Midland; her daughter, Cheryl Koen and husband, Billy, of Ruidoso, New Mexico; her sister, Libby Hale and husband, Air Force Retired Lt. Colonel Ira Hale of West, Texas; three granddaughters, Stephanie Lain of Austin, Adrienne Bailey Smith of Huntsville and Courtney Lain of New Orleans, Louisiana; her three great grandchildren, Cora Correia and twins, Kiera and Kyle Smith and several nieces and nephews including Debbie Douglass of Odessa.
Throughout her adulthood, Mrs. Kasch was an avid bridge player and was an accomplished Life Master. She was beloved and will be missed by her many friends and her family. She was affectionately known as "Nanny" by her grandchildren.
The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Mescalero Care Center in Mescalero, New Mexico.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 11, 2006 at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring with Rev. Jim Wright, officiating. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Mr. Scott Smith, Mr. Billy Koen, Mr. Ira Hale, Mr. R. H. Weaver, Mr. Noel Blake, Mr. Dwight Warren and Mr. Wally Slate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Tobin Kasch Lain Endowment Fund at Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas, % Texas A&M University-Kingsville Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 2202, Kingsville, Texas 78363.
